In the late 16th century, William Winter was executed for the murder. His body was then hung on a gibbet – Winter’s Gibbet as we see it now is a replica of that original.

Standing on the barren Elsdon Moor, there is normally a stone head hanging from the gibbet. It does frequently get stolen, and in this photo you can see a makeshift replacement someone has hung,

In the clear, cold skies above, you can see the Milky Way stretching up into the depths of the sky.
