At the Linn of Quoich, in the Cairngorms, the Punchbowl is a natural hole in the rocks that force the river into a rushing ravine. In lower waters, you can see the river running beneath the hole; in higher waters it can rush over the top and pour into it.

It is said that, many years ago, the local Earls would place a ceremonial punchbowl by the hole and drink from it after a successful hunt.
