Nestled in a remote section of Northumberland, north of Alnwick, is the quite intriguing Cateran Hole. You need to know where to look, but once you find it, you’ll see carved steps leading down into the hillside which take you into a long, narrow cave.

The cave is thought to have been used as a hiding place for smugglers, but legend also has it that connects up with the Hen Hole, many miles away in the Cheviots.

Either way, it seemed an ideal place for a spot of light painting. These photos were created using an LED umbrella (without the canopy) inside the cave.
