Translating to ‘Tired of the Wind’, Blawearie is a ruined farmstead near Old Bewick, in Northumberland. Befitting its name, it stands exposed on the moors, battered and beaten by the winds coming over from the Cheviots.

It’s a fascinating place – once used as an army training base, there are the remains of a small terraced garden, and some 19th century graffiti carved into the rocks.
