If you’ve seen my previous post you’ll know that I recently went for a wander on Warkworth Beach – somewhere I’ve fancied exploring for a while but haven’t visited much. Last time I was there I spotted what I would call Amble North Pier (not sure of its true name) but ran out of time to check it out properly.
So I thought I’d pop back up, and I’m glad I did! A great location, and I hit lucky with some great conditions to go with it. Coquet Island can be seen on the right-hand side of the horizon.
A little later on and the sun was setting…
Both these photos were taken using combinations of ND full and graduated filters to increase the exposure length and balance the sky and pier. As normal, no Photoshop work was involved other than a touch of sharpening and contrast boost.
Earlier in the day I also stopped off at a weir on the River Coquet at Guyzance, near the beautiful Guyzance Hall – it’s been on my list for a while. It’s much larger than I expected, at a guess probably 5 or 6 feet high. Not very photogenic though in its entirety, so I settled for a close-up shot of the water.
All in all, a good day out – ready for the next trip out now!
